Drive consciousness contains either the perfect or worst parts of both hovering and pressure tumescence. The antidote to drive/hypervolatility tumescence is unintuitive in many ways—apply the intimacy of the pressure mind and the approval of the hover mind. Tumescent drive will only be moved when it feels seen, and it only responds when the Erotic forms of pressure and hovering consciousness are applied in a steady, consistent manner.
Drive consciousness is the aspect of consciousness least respected and most feared. Pressure tumescence has us convinced it is dangerous or should only be used for consumption, and hovering tumescence dismisses it and acts as if we can live without it. In fact, it is drive consciousness that can operate without the other two. Therefore, an element of acknowledgment and respect is required in order for it to align with the others. Otherwise, it will withdraw resources and operate of its own accord.
Skillfully channeled, the anxiety against isolation breaks through unnecessary barriers; it expresses as penetrative energy. Hypervolatile/drive energy taps into primal knowledge and flow learning, so it can come across as an almost instinctively quick learning, knowing, and passion. There is an attention to detail that is not extraneous, but rather sharp and inspired.
To get to skilled hypervolatility, attention is necessary. Attention motivates boundaries and imbues penetrative energy with subtlety. With attention, energy is directed out toward passion, not blame; and inward toward self-knowledge, not shame.
Hypervolatility/drive is motivated by a desire for knowledge and power. This is not passive knowledge, a knowledge about something; but rather an active knowledge, a knowledge with something, through experience. Passive knowledge allows you to understand something and active knowledge engages you with it. Active knowledge is the kind of knowledge that precedes power; and that active knowledge is what hypervolatility/drive brings us in touch with.
Passive knowledge is like knowing that rap is poetry; active knowledge is knowing how to freestyle. Hypervolatility/drive is an energy of possession and passion; almost like something else is coming through. Inside of this passion there is the kind of clarity you get from engagement with the thing you are interested in. Clarity comes because you resist overwhelm by having your attention drawn to what is relevant, compelling, and worthy of attention.
